I am not one to recoil at criticism, and to say I was excited to see some negative opinions is an understatement. I welcome the opportunity to debate.

Dale-- Thank you not only for commenting, but for calling me out. I always love to see people reading! I would love to read your blog more extensively and comment--though believe me that I have no problem with my tiny community. At 18, the fact that there are any people reading what I write off the top of my head is pretty amazing.

I reworked the entry a little bit, and I hope you read the update at the top, but I'd like to apologize again for the name-calling. It was immature and unnecessary. What I should have said is that I don't necessarily agree with your blogs. You talk about Lacey Brown deserving the Judges' Save--what exactly did she deserve it for? I will be the first to say I actually liked her "Ruby Tuesday," but she had no hope of winning the competition. You could argue the same of Michael, but I'd say they're apple and orange in relative to one another. Also, sarcasm like in your "Best of the Blogs" this past week is far too subtle for the skimming reader. My personal favorite Idol blogger, Lisa de Moraes for the Washington Post, does a phenomenal job with her sarcastic tone, one which I could only hope to aspire to. But all this is for debate--I am, of course, thrilled that you stopped by. And please read some of the backlogged posts--I'd love to hear your opinion on those as well! (PS: Thank you for the compliment on the writing!)

Anonymous-- Well, I'd like to think my own medicine is a little less bitter, but we'll go with it.

I fully admit that the TV I blog about, Project Runway and Idol in particular, is crappy. (I'd like to defend Mad Men and The Good Wife, though.) But I blog about it simply because it's fun. I don't do this for anyone but me, put simply. This is just a hobby I enjoy and if someone gets some enjoyment out of it, that's absolutely great. You obviously didn't get much enjoyment out of it, which I'm sorry about, but hey, no one can win them all over.

I am not paid, no--this is, again, a hobby. And I am part of a Nielsen family household, though I'm not sure what relevance that has. Finally, I fully understand these postings are long and probably arduous for others to get through. However, blogs have no word limit, and I'd much prefer say everything I want to say than limit myself.

I do not consider myself on the same level as Dale Roe occupation-wise, because, frankly, I'm grossly outmatched. However, as far as two people who both watch TV, I think we're equally matched to discuss it as long as our arguments are well thought out and mature. (Obviously, my name-calling was immature, but I've stated as much several times already.)

I'm choosing to take that you want me to stop blogging now that Oscar Season is over as a platitude for my Oscar blogging, in which case I say a hearty "thanks!"

Thank you both for the time and consideration you put into commenting here. It is greatly appreciated.Kevinhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03487626808421376755noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2548883736600770481.post-15443681214855099352010-04-12T12:36:01.620-07:002010-04-12T12:36:01.620-07:00FYI: I don't know who "Anonymous" is...FYI: I don't know who "Anonymous" is, but it's not me. I happen to like your writing. Are you a part of a Neilsen family household? Has anyone told you about the art of self-editing? Dude, you ramble.

You may think that just because you do the same thing as Dale Roe (blog about TV) you're able to judge his character or intelligence but really, no. Go back to not blogging now that Oscars season is over. He IS paid to watch TV and write about it and is pretty good about doing it without boring me after sentence 2.
/taste of your own ugly medicine.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2548883736600770481.post-18229133959887933392010-04-11T18:35:41.751-07:002010-04-11T18:35:41.751-07:00Hi. If you think I believe that Tim Urban has any shot at winning "American Idol," you ought to check the batteries on your sarcasm detector. And if you ever want to expand your audience beyond eight followers and a handful of comments, hop on over to http://www.austin360.com/tvblog … the name-calling indicates that you seem to be somewhat mean-spirited, so I'm sure you'd fit right in with the majority of Statesman commenters.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09778553436455065851noreply@blogger.com
